For the person standing on the other side. The depression lifted. The divorce is behind them. The diagnosis was beaten. The addiction released its grip. They survived something they were not sure they would survive and they are blinking in the sunlight and they do not know what to do with their hands now that they are not gripping the edge.

DAY 1 — PRESS PLAY

You are standing in the parking lot, keys in hand, engine off. The noise of the drive has stopped, and now there is only this strange, hollow silence where the panic used to be. Your hands are empty. They are trembling. You do not know what to do with them now that they are no longer gripping the edge for survival. I am here.
