Caregiving & Exhaustion

Watching Someone You Love Disappear

For the person caring for someone with dementia. The person they love is still breathing but they are leaving piece by piece.

DAY 1 — PRESS PLAY

You are standing in the grocery store aisle, holding a jar of sauce you do not need, forgetting entirely why you came here. The list is gone. The purpose is gone. And the person who usually walks beside you, who usually holds the list, is standing right next to you in the cart line—but they are not there. Their body is present. Their breath is visible.

This was Day 1. There are 6 more days.
